Disaster Aid Europe’s mission is to assist Lebanese Rotary & Rotaract Clubs in helping and supporting the rebuilding of communities severely affected by the 4th August 2020 explosion in Beirut. 300,000 homes were destroyed causing homelessness and many have homes with no windows and doors as well as other damage.
On 30th of October, Izmir was hit by a 7.0 destructive earthquake. 105 people died and 1027 people are injured. Over 50 high-rise apartment buildings have totally collapsed, 243 buildings are severely damaged and will be evacuated. Since then 1508 earthquakes have occurred and 44 of these were over 4.0. District 2440 Rotarians have set up a Rotary tent city.
